Nine Systems owns the Nine Tables brand and operates as an engineering studio for clients that want something properly built. We are two founders, and that is more than enough to deliver well. We stay deliberately small.

The story

We started with one problem.

Norwegian restaurants are under-digitised. Reservations are made on paper or in international systems that do not understand VAT codes, Norwegian phone formats, or why payday shifts weekend traffic. We have built software for the experience and hospitality industries for almost twenty years, and we have seen the patterns.

Nine Tables is our answer: a reservation system designed for Norwegian restaurants, by people who actually know the industry. Nine Systems is the company that owns and operates Nine Tables — and that ships websites, integrations, advisory and bespoke projects for clients who mean it.

We stay deliberately small. We have watched agencies scale, and we know what happens to quality and communication when a company introduces middle layers. We chose a different model: two seniors, direct contact, no middlemen.

Kjetil Bruland

Managing Director / CEO

Over twenty years as a software engineer. Six years as CTO at Bilberry Technologies, where I scaled the organisation from three engineers to almost sixty. Before that, seven years as a senior consultant at TietoEvry — Java, .NET, Angular, .NET Core, Azure, AWS — on projects for BKK, GC Rieber, Nordea Liv, Statoil and the Municipality of Bergen.

MSc in Information Science from the University of Bergen. Certified as a TOGAF Enterprise Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, and Scrum Master. Based in Bergen, always have been.

Alexander Castillo

CTO

Deeply technical, deep experience with modern web stacks and system architecture. Owns technology strategy, system architecture, engineering leadership, code quality and delivery at Nine Systems.

Hands-on with Angular, TypeScript, Supabase, the Cloudflare stack and the rest of the toolbox. Based in Bergen.

How we work

Six things we take seriously.

Seniors from day one

You never get a junior "learning on your tab". We are two seniors. If we take it, we do it ourselves.

Direct communication

No project managers in between. You speak directly with the person writing the code or designing the page.

We say so

If we think your premise is wrong, we tell you. If we think another firm fits better, we say that too.

We do not delete ourselves

After delivery we remain available for support, ongoing work and questions. We do not ship things we do not want to own.

Measure before instinct

If we cannot measure the effect of what we build, we flag it. We do not like ambiguity about whether something worked.
